Environmental equity supports the health, natural beauty and prosperity we need to thrive.
Quixote Foundation invests in policy research, engagement and pilot strategies to activate a diverse environmental movement. Our funding is committed for 2014. Grants include support for Sightline, the Center for Social Inclusion and the National Wildlife Federation.
Our goals:
- Environmental protection is considered as part of every decision people make
- Ways of living that protect the planet can be implemented affordably
- People have the will to reduce their impact on climate change
Core approaches and concerns:
- Diversify the environmental movement with a focus on race
- Diversify the way the environmental movement defines itself
- Build progressive infrastructure
- Weave multiple strands: environmental restoration, protection and preventive action
How we pursue our work:
- Provide and advocate support for organizations led by people of color, engaging people of color in environmental issues
- Bring a greater diversity of people into the environmental movement
- Take the environmental movement out to a greater diversity of people
- Convene progressive leaders across topics with environment as an underlying theme
Is it getting hot in here, or is it just me?
